Exploring process; Mixed Media Drawing and Painting.
The aim of this workshop is for participants to immerse themselves in the process of drawing and painting in mixed media and so to discover a personal interpretation of the beautiful Andalucian landscape. Use of colour, application of brush marks, surface texture and balance of composition will be explored to convey a sense of mood and place in resolved paintings. Brief, informative slide lectures will be given on artists such as Braque, Matisse, Diebenkorn, Rae and others, used as guiding lights for participants. This course is suitable for beginners as well as those with experience.
Anna teaches in acrylics mainly but also in other media as required. She concentrates on landscape painting but also offers other subjects to paint, ranging from still life and flowers to figures or chosen objects.
She emphasises how to capture the excitement on first spotting a subject, without technicalities bogging you down. She gives attention to 'wet-in-wet' technique as well as to some of the classical precepts.
These painting holidays are suitable for all - from absolute beginners to accomplished painters. Groups are kept small so you can visibly advance within the week and draw from Anna’s wealth of experience, skills, and thought-provoking insights.
Her daily demonstrations help you get started. They also address established techniques and commonly-encountered problems such as perspective, colour density, recession, and so on. In addition Anna offers a blend of additional techniques derived from her background in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Coaching. Participants will be therefore be taken through exercises to encourage them to develop positive thinking in their creative abilities and overcome personal barriers to success.
